Description
Beyond the Potsherds
A journey of faith through trauma
Four thousand years ago, there was a man who lived in Uz, to the north of Arabia. He could just as well live in South Africa after 1994. Because, similar to our stories, his story is soak with terrible losses, humiliation, hardship, shock, and trauma. This is the story of a man that had to struggle with undeserved pain and questions about the presence of God during traumatic events. His story is similar to the stories of many South Africans. It appeals to us to struggle with him in order to understand his as well as our sufferings. Is it possible for a believer to suffer?
Why do these bad things happen to the good children of God? Violence. Armed attacks, robberies, rape domestic violence, AIDS, and other illnesses, road accidents, and poverty are common in our country.
In which way should we as believers in South Africa talk to each other amidst suffering?
This book wrestles, together with believers, through trauma and all the Why? questions of life.
